He warns of a future where families will be “without natural affection.” The Greek word astorgos, used to describe this lack of devotion, paints a picture of a disjointed, non-nurturing family environment. Traditional family relationships are under threat, with external pressures such as multiple jobs, financial strains, and divorce creating rifts that push family members in different directions.
The effects of this breakdown are far-reaching. Children feel neglected or unwanted, leading to rebellion and attention disorders. The consequences are evident in society today, with teachers witnessing firsthand the troubled state of children from fractured families.
However, there is hope. For those who love God, it is possible to build strong families even in these trying times. By prioritizing God’s Word, participating in a local church, and making intentional efforts to spend quality time with family, we can resist the stormy tides of this age.
Yet, as divorce rates skyrocket, Paul’s words about “trucebreakers” ring true. In the last days, irreconcilable differences will lead to a rampant outbreak of divorce. The commitment to working through problems diminishes, as couples find it easier to part ways than to put in the effort required to mend their relationships. The legal system becomes overwhelmed with lawsuits, as people choose to accuse and sue rather than seek reconciliation.
Society becomes a breeding ground for “false accusers,” where personal gain and legal advantage take precedence over settling differences. The courts overflow with cases, and the spirit of accusation dominates relationships. This trend is all too familiar in our world today.
Despite these tumultuous times, believers are not left helpless. We have God’s Word as our guide, the Holy Spirit as our helper, and a supportive Christian community to lean on. Strengthened by these resources, we can navigate the challenges of the last days victoriously.
Let us fortify ourselves with the truth of Scripture, allowing the power of the Holy Spirit to flow through us. As we run our race with endurance, let us set aside quality time for our families, fostering strong and healthy relationships. And above all, let us seize every opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, bringing hope to a lost world.

I boldly declare that the Holy Spirit lives in me, equipping me to face the challenges of the last days. I am anointed to break burdens and manifest the glory of God to those around me. I am not here by accident; God has chosen me for such a time as this. I purpose to obey His Word and walk in obedience to the Holy Spirit. I will see the glory of God manifested in my life.
